What is a Grade 5 safe?

EN 1143-1 Grade 5 is a European certification for the burglary resistance of safes. A certified Grade 5 safe provides resistance for a very high risk profile — against a highly motivated, technically skilled intruder using heavy mechanical, electrical and thermal tools. From Grade 5 onwards, we are truly talking about high security.

Burglary resistance is expressed in Resistance Units (RU): Grade 5 requires 180 RU for partial access and 270 RU for full access.

The indicative insurable value is €125,000 in cash or €250,000 in valuables — based on storage in an unattended and unsecured building. Cash and valuables may not be combined.
