What is a Grade 4 safe?

EN 1143-1 Grade 4 is a European certification for the burglary resistance of safes for applications with a high risk profile. Grade 4 is the first grade for which a minimum of two certified locks is mandatory according to EN 1300 class B. A certified Grade 4 safe provides resistance against an experienced and well-equipped professional intruder mastering modern techniques and powerful tools.

Burglary resistance is expressed in Resistance Units (RU): Grade 4 requires 120 RU for partial access and 180 RU for full access.

The indicative insurable value is €75,000 in cash or €150,000 in valuables — based on storage in an unattended and unsecured building. Cash and valuables may not be combined.
