EN 1143-1 grade 2 is a European certification for the burglary resistance of safes for applications with a low to medium risk profile. A certified grade 2 safe offers resistance against a burglar using both mechanical and electric tools, with some experience. Grade 2 is also particularly interesting for those who want to combine high fire resistance with solid burglary protection — unlike higher grades, grade 2 makes it possible to meet the strictest fire standards, such as EN 1047-1 with 120 minutes of protection for data media.
Burglary resistance is expressed in Resistance Units (RU): grade 2 requires 70 RU for partial access and 100 RU for full access.
The indicative insurable value is €25,000 in cash or €50,000 in valuables — based on storage in an unattended and unsecured building. Cash and valuables may not be combined.
