Since 1915, Atelier Boonen has been located at 10 Princess Street in Brussels. Originally active in the trade of working horses, the company shifted its focus after World War II to safes and strongrooms, following grandfather Joseph Boonen’s advice to his son: “Do something no one else can do.”
Through its connection with Edgard Fremersdoff, a renowned transporter of safes, the family came into contact with the Van Vaeck company. Its founder, Joseph Van Vaeck, trained at Fichet in Paris, started his own business after the war, specialising in the servicing of bank safes.
In 1972, Edouard Boonen joined the company and became an independent entrepreneur in 1989, when Armand, son of Joseph Van Vaeck, retired and handed over his business. Since 2005, his son Joseph has joined the family company, followed by Louis in 2012. Today, Atelier Boonen remains true to its values: expertise, discretion and in-house service management, with a strong commitment to security and customer satisfaction.
