Please note: a burglary-resistant safe is not automatically fire-resistant. A fire-resistant safe combines certified burglary protection with tested fire protection — models offering both certifications are grouped in the fire-resistant safes category. The grade you need also depends on your insurer's requirements. How to make the right choice, which insurable value corresponds to which grade, and what delivery and installation include is explained below.
The right safe depends on three things: what you want to protect, against which risk, and what your insurer requires. For burglary resistance, the European standard EN 1143-1 defines resistance grades 0 to 7. Each grade corresponds to an indicative insurable value: from around €7,000 in cash for Grade 0 to €250,000 and more from Grade 6 upwards. For smaller values, security cabinets and safes certified to EN 14450, security levels S1 and S2 may be suitable. The exact coverage is always determined by your insurer; the full overview per grade can be found on our page about burglary resistance grades and test methods.
For fire protection, what you store matters most. Paper documents are damaged from around 170 degrees Celsius, while digital media such as hard drives and USB sticks are affected from just 55 degrees. The standard and tested duration — from LFS 30P to EN 1047-1 S120DIS — determine which model is suitable. More details can be found on our page about fire protection standards and test methods.
All models come from renowned manufacturers such as Fichet-Bauche, Chubbsafes, Wertheim, Sistec, Salvus and Robur, and come with full service: delivery, installation and anchoring, carried out entirely in-house and, in 95% of cases, at no extra charge, even on upper floors — discreetly and with unmarked vehicles. After your purchase, our own mechanical workshop in Brussels remains at your service for maintenance and repairs.
