Security cabinets, strongbox cabinets and secure filing cabinets
Security cabinets and strongbox cabinets are designed for the secure storage of valuables, sensitive documents, confidential files and items that need protection against theft, unauthorised access or prying eyes. They are the practical middle ground: sturdier and better secured than a standard metal or filing cabinet, yet lighter and more economical than a certified safe.
The category includes single- and double-walled cabinets with various protection levels and lock types. Depending on construction and use, they are also referred to as secure filing cabinets, strongbox cabinets or security lockers. Some models carry certified basic burglary protection to EN 14450, level S1 or S2.
While paper archives are shrinking in many organisations, the need for secure storage of physical goods remains as real as ever. Security cabinets are widely used to store smartphones, tablets and other electronics in shops, laptops in schools and training centres, expensive tools on construction sites, stock, keys, photographic equipment and other valuable gear. In settings such as hospital pharmacies, care institutions and laboratories, they also serve for the secure storage of medicines, narcotics and controlled products. They are equally used for seized goods, personal belongings or any items that need to be kept safe and discreet temporarily.
Compact security cabinets are often joined into a column of individual lockers — for instance in companies or institutions where each employee gets a personal compartment for valuables, important documents, medication or a weapon. The result is a flexible wall of secured compartments, expandable as needs grow.
Our strongbox cabinets can be fitted with high-security safe locks certified to EN 1300, class A, B or C — as a key lock or a mechanical or electronic code lock. In most cases, the cabinet can also be connected to your access control system, opening with a badge, fingerprint or similar identification.
Some versions have a double-walled construction filled with insulation material "compliant with DIN 4102". These cabinets have not undergone genuine fire resistance testing. When theft protection is the main concern, a certified burglary-resistant safe with a full resistance grade is the better choice.
