Cabinets for acids, alkalis and other non-flammable hazardous substances
Acids, alkalis and toxic substances are not flammable, but they are aggressive: they attack metal, give off corrosive vapours and can react violently with each other. They therefore belong in a cabinet with separate compartments, a corrosion-resistant interior, sumps and ventilation. These cabinets are not fire-resistant. For flammable liquids, choose a safety cabinet for flammable products to EN 14470-1.
Our cabinets for acids and alkalis come from Asecos: the C-LINE for non-flammable chemicals, acids, alkalis and toxic substances, with up to four separate compartments, and the SL-LINE with two hermetically separated compartments and metal-free air ducts, also as an under-bench cabinet beneath a fume cupboard.
Why separate storage?
Acids and alkalis react violently with each other, and some chemicals must not be stored together with other substances. A cabinet with separate compartments prevents leaking containers from coming into contact. The SL-LINE has two hermetically separated compartments, the C-LINE up to four compartments, each fitted out and labelled individually. Which substances may be stored together follows from the safety data sheets and the risk assessment of your workplace. Examples of substances that must not be stored together are in our guide to the storage of hazardous substances.
Corrosion-resistant and ventilated
Corrosive vapours attack ordinary steel cabinets and hinges. The SL-LINE has an interior of melamine resin and flame-retardant special panels, with metal-free air ducts. Both cabinets have plastic sumps that collect leakage and are ready for connection to mechanical extraction.
Tall cabinet or under the fume cupboard?
The C-LINE comes in three widths and two heights, with hinged doors or space-saving folding doors. The SL-LINE is available as a tall cabinet and as an under-bench cabinet that fits beneath a fume cupboard. For flammable liquids under a worktop, there is the fire-resistant Asecos UB-LINE.
