Cabinets for plant protection products and environmentally hazardous liquids
Professional users keep plant protection products in a lockable plant protection store or in a cabinet intended for that purpose. A plant protection or environmental cabinet keeps the products locked away, catches leaks in spill sumps and is prepared for ventilation.
These cabinets are not fire-resistant. For a small quantity of flammable liquids there are versions with a built-in type 30 safety box; larger quantities belong in a safety cabinet for flammable products.
What do the rules require for a plant protection cabinet?
Under the Royal Decree of 19 March 2013 on the sustainable use of plant protection products, a professional user keeps the products in a room or cabinet intended for that purpose. It is dry, effectively ventilated, well maintained and locked. The entrance carries the text "no entry for unauthorised persons" with an equivalent symbol, a suitable hazard symbol and the identity, contact details and phytolicence number of the person in charge.
The products stay in their original packaging with their original label. Expired products and products for private use are grouped separately. Medicines, food and animal feed do not belong in the cabinet. Sector guides such as Vegaplan also require, among other things, frost-free storage for liquid products and shelves made of non-absorbent material.
Environmental cabinet or plant protection cabinet?
The asecos E-CLASSIC is an environmental cabinet for environmentally hazardous liquids, such as oils or cleaning agents. The asecos E-PSM is the same cabinet in green, fitted out for plant protection products. Both have galvanised sump shelves and a bottom sump; the .2 versions have liquid-tight sump shelves. With a built-in type 30 safety box (version F), you can also store a small quantity of flammable liquids in it.
Spill containment and ventilation
A sump shelf holds up to 20 litres, the bottom sump 20.5 litres. The cabinets are prepared for connection (ø 75 mm) to mechanical extraction, with natural ventilation at the bottom. How to ventilate a cabinet is explained in our guide to the storage of hazardous substances.
