Luxury Safes

Watch safes, jewellery safes and bespoke design safes

A luxury safe unites certified security with refined aesthetics. Where a classic safe hides away, a design safe becomes a statement piece in the interior: high-gloss lacquer in any colour, leather cladding, interiors in exotic wood or noble materials — without a single concession to security. These premium safes carry a full resistance grade under EN 1143-1, typically Grade 3 to 6, with tested fire resistance available on request.

The interior makes the difference: integrated watch winders keep your automatic watches wound, jewellery drawers with soft-close protect what is delicate, LED lighting responds to the opening of the door, and power outlets or USB charging points feed whatever needs to keep running inside. From a compact watch safe for a dressing room to a spacious jewellery safe for an entire collection — every luxury safe is composed to measure and matched to the room it will live in.

Luxury safes are made to protect prestigious watches, jewellery, valuable documents and other precious possessions, and stand out through high-end finishes and a security level that meets the strictest requirements. The base is always a premium safe from a renowned manufacturer — brands such as Kaso, with its distinctly designed premium range, Fichet-BaucheChubbsafesStacke and Wertheim — transformed to your wishes into a one-of-a-kind piece. The certified resistance grade remains untouched: the finish changes, the armour does not.

The finish is where these safes truly distinguish themselves: high-gloss lacquer in various colours, interiors in exotic wood or noble materials, integrated watch winders, custom-fitted compartments and a wealth of exclusive options. Every execution is carefully matched to the room it will occupy — discreetly integrated, yet unmistakably high-end. A particular speciality is the hand-painting of safes in our own workshop: vintage safes receive a decorative finish in wood imitation or a historical palette, so that a piece of character blends naturally into an authentic interior.

If you want tested fire protection alongside burglary resistance, choose a fire-resistant safe with dual certification as the base — equally available in luxury finish, up to Grade 7.

Luxury safes find their way to watch collectors and jewellery lovers, but just as readily to jewellers and watchmakers who want a representative safe in their shop, and to interior architects integrating security into a design. Contact us to discuss your wishes — from finish and interior to resistance grade — or come and see the possibilities at our workshop in Brussels.

Frequently asked questions

Atelier Boonen takes care of the delivery, installation and anchoring of safes entirely in-house. We never use external transporters or installers. Using specialised transport equipment, we deliver discreetly and safely, including to upper floors or hard-to-reach locations. Safes are always wrapped in opaque film and transported in unmarked vehicles to avoid curious eyes.

For safes up to 1000 kg, anchoring is mandatory under the European standard EN 1143-1. We carry out this anchoring carefully, using chemical anchors or adapted solutions depending on the substrate. Where necessary, we use stair climbers and protective materials to safeguard floors, walls and staircases.

The installation is always carried out safely, efficiently and with respect for the building. This guarantees you a professionally executed installation offering the strongest and most durable solution. In 95% of cases, delivery, installation and anchoring are included in the price — at no extra charge.

There is no such thing as a completely burglar-proof safe: every safe can be opened — it is a matter of time and tools. What a certified safe does offer is a delay — and that delay is precisely what discourages or defeats a burglary attempt.

The level of resistance is expressed as a resistance grade according to EN 1143-1: the higher the grade, the longer and more difficult it is to open the safe. Anchoring plays an equally important role: a safe that is not correctly anchored can simply be taken away. Explore our range of certified burglary-resistant safes.

The stated fire resistance of a safe (for example 30, 60, or 120 minutes) refers to the duration of the test phase in a controlled fire laboratory test. In practice, the contents often remain protected for much longer, as some fire-resistant safes go through a cool-down period after the fire is extinguished. During this phase, the internal temperature may continue to rise, but well-designed safes keep it below the critical level at which documents or data media would be damaged.

Not all testing standards include this cool-down phase — it depends on the fire-resistance standard and the specific test method used.

Learn more about the different fire-resistance standards and testing methods for safes on this page.

A safe is normally placed on the floor and anchored. In some cases, however, it is possible to suspend a safe on a wall, in other words to fix it at height without any support from the floor. This requires a sufficiently strong load-bearing wall or a suitable concrete wall, together with fixings capable of supporting both the weight of the safe and the forces involved in a possible pull-out attempt. Depending on the situation, an additional support or mounting structure may also be required. If the safe is too heavy or the wall is not strong enough, installation on a plinth is often the better solution.

Yes, a safe can be equipped with an electrical outlet, cable entry or internal lighting. This is particularly useful for watch winders, LED lighting and charging electronic devices.

The available options depend on the model and intended use. The installation is carried out without compromising the operation or security of the safe.

The main difference lies in the finish and interior design. A luxury safe can be fitted with exclusive materials, jewellery drawers, watch winders, lighting and a personalised layout.

For most applications, however, a standard safe is more than sufficient. A custom-made interior can also be installed in a regular safe.
