Optimal protection for servers and critical IT equipment

Server safes and IT safes are designed to physically protect servers, network equipment, sensitive hardware and data carriers against theft, sabotage and unauthorised access. They combine the burglary resistance of a certified safe with technical features for professional IT environments: shielding against electromagnetic radiation, EMI/EMP protection and protection against electronic eavesdropping according to the TEMPEST principle.

For environments where interception risks are real — defence, embassies, public institutions and financial organisations — security goes beyond burglary resistance alone. When processing data, electronic equipment emits electromagnetic signals that can be intercepted from outside: so-called compromising emanations. TEMPEST-certified server safes combine physical protection with the properties of a Faraday cage and block these emanations entirely, in accordance with NATO standard SDIP-27. Unlike a standard shielded rack cabinet, they pair that shielding with certified burglary resistance.

Because server safes by definition have cable and ventilation openings, they are certified under a dedicated guideline: ECB·S R16, the standard for IT and aperture safes, with specific construction requirements for every opening. In our range, the Serversafe DRS Prisma I TEMPEST combines ECB·S R16 Grade I burglary resistance with attenuation of more than 100 dB, and the Robur Tempest Safe offers TEMPEST Level A shielding — the highest protection level. For professional IT environments without a specific interception risk, the Kaso R16 IT Safe with integrated 19" server rack and R16 Grade I certification is the appropriate base solution.
