Delivery, installation and anchoring of safes and vaults

Atelier Boonen provides the delivery, installation and anchoring of safes and security cabinets throughout Belgium. Our own team carries out each installation using suitable transport and handling equipment, discreetly and safely, including on upper floors and in locations with difficult access. For every safe, we determine the most appropriate anchoring method for the floor, wall or both.

Professional installation and placement of safes and security cabinets

Delivery, installation and anchoring are carried out by our own specialist installation team. We use fully equipped service vehicles and a compact truck with specialised lifting and handling equipment, allowing us to transport and professionally install safes weighing up to 3,000 kg, both on the ground floor and on upper floors. Heavier safes are no problem either: when required, we work with our regular crane operator. Every installation is carefully prepared in advance, taking into account access, stairs or lifts, the supporting structure and the final position of the safe.

Safe installation on upper floors or in difficult-to-access locations

Stairs, basements and protection of the building

For lighter safes up to approximately 400 kg, we use various stair-climbing systems adapted to the weight of the safe and the type of staircase, both for upper floors and basements. During every installation, we use the necessary protective materials — such as floor protection plates, stair-edge protectors and coverings — to prevent damage to floors, stairs and walls.

Crane installation for upper floors

If the safe or security cabinet cannot be brought in via the stairs or lift, it can be introduced into the building through a window or another suitable opening. Our regular crane partner operates a 120 tonne-metre crane equipped with a JIB, allowing us to place safes weighing up to 1,500 kg as high as the 9th floor. For higher floors or exceptional situations, we use a telescopic crane

Anchoring in accordance with EN 1143-1

For safes weighing up to 1,000 kg, anchoring is mandatory under the European standard EN 1143-1. We carry out the anchoring using the appropriate materials and fixing method for the safe and the supporting structure.

In most cases, we use chemical anchoring: a high-strength threaded rod is bonded into the floor or wall using a two-component chemical mortar.

This method offers several advantages:

high resistance to pull-out compared with mechanical anchors;
adaptable to different types of floors and walls;
suitable for a wide range of supporting structures and substrates.

Anchoring a safe to the wall or floor

Depending on the model and the available anchoring points, a safe or security cabinet can be anchored to the floor, the wall, or both. Both lighter and heavier safes can be secured in this way. Some models can also be fully wall-mounted, provided the wall is sufficiently strong and suitable for the installation.

For heavier safes or security cabinets, an additional wall fixing can also be used to transfer part of the load to the wall and reduce the load on the floor slab.

Built-in safes, wall safes and floor safes are installed differently: they are built into the wall or floor and set into masonry or concrete.

No suitable floor or wall?

If the existing structure is not suitable for standard anchoring, for example with a timber floor, hollow floor or weak wall, we can design custom supports or structures to provide a safe and durable fixing solution.

You may also have come across the term certified anchoring. This refers to a Dutch commercial certification scheme and has no official status in Belgium. We anchor safes in accordance with EN 1143-1 and the manufacturer's installation instructions and, on request, can arrange an independent pull-out test.

Heavy and specialised installations

We also carry out heavy and specialised security installations, including vault doors and modular strongrooms for jewellers, banks and companies requiring large-capacity security solutions, server safes and IT safes designed to fit into technical rooms, as well as custom-made safes and security cabinets with dimensions adapted to the available space. For these projects, we assess access, floor load and the sequence of works in advance, together with your architect or contractor.
