Salvus Ferrara – Burglary-resistant safe Grade 1 (EN 1143-1, ECB·S)

The Salvus Ferrara is a Grade 1 burglary-resistant safe, tested and certified by ECB·S according to the European standard EN 1143-1.

The construction consists of a multi-walled steel body, filled with a composite, and a door with a 10 mm steel front panel. Thanks to the thin build of the walls and door, the Ferrara offers plenty of interior volume within remarkably compact external dimensions. The safe is also shallow, making it ideal for discreet installation in a cabinet or dressing room, for example.

The door has three-sided locking with solid steel bolts; the lock and boltwork are additionally protected by a manganese steel anti-drill plate. The hinges are internal and allow a door opening of up to 90° — nothing protrudes on the hinge side. For an even flatter front, an optional flat folding handle is available, protruding only 15 mm; electronic code locks with a flat keypad are also offered. The safe can thus easily be built in without anything getting in the way.

As standard, the Salvus Ferrara is equipped with an EN 1300 certified double-bitted key lock. Optionally, versions are available with a mechanical combination lock or an electronic code lock.

The Ferrara is available in several sizes from 45 to 100 litres, each with height-adjustable shelves. Prepared as standard for floor anchoring. Finished in graphite grey RAL 7024.

Frequently asked questions

Atelier Boonen takes care of the delivery, installation and anchoring of safes entirely in-house. We never use external transporters or installers. Using specialised transport equipment, we deliver discreetly and safely, including to upper floors or hard-to-reach locations. Safes are always wrapped in opaque film and transported in unmarked vehicles to avoid curious eyes.

For safes up to 1000 kg, anchoring is mandatory under the European standard EN 1143-1. We carry out this anchoring carefully, using chemical anchors or adapted solutions depending on the substrate. Where necessary, we use stair climbers and protective materials to safeguard floors, walls and staircases.

The installation is always carried out safely, efficiently and with respect for the building. This guarantees you a professionally executed installation offering the strongest and most durable solution. In 95% of cases, delivery, installation and anchoring are included in the price — at no extra charge.

The best safe for your home doesn't exist — the best safe for your situation does. The right choice depends on what you want to protect, where you want to place the safe and how you use it day to day. For everyday items such as jewellery, documents or some cash, a burglar-resistant home safe of a lower security grade is often sufficient; if you also want protection against fire, choose a fire-resistant safe. If you prefer to keep the safe hidden, a wall safe or floor safe is an interesting option. Also pay attention to the insurable value per grade and to professional anchoring, and check whether your insurer has specific requirements. Our safe for the home page gives you a complete overview with concrete models.

Yes, it is entirely possible to install a safe in a built-in cupboard. We regularly carry out this type of installation. The simplest solution is usually to place the safe on the base of the cupboard and secure it both to the floor and to the wall. In many cases, this type of cupboard is fitted with a plinth. We can then manufacture a steel mounting plinth at the same height as the cupboard, or adapt the existing base to create a stable and suitable support. We can also cut out the back panel of the cupboard so that the safe can be positioned as close as possible to the wall. Installing a safe higher up inside the cupboard is also possible, depending on the type of wall and the weight of the safe. In that case, a plinth or mounting plate may be required to ensure a safe and reliable fixing.

A safe is normally placed on the floor and anchored. In some cases, however, it is possible to suspend a safe on a wall, in other words to fix it at height without any support from the floor. This requires a sufficiently strong load-bearing wall or a suitable concrete wall, together with fixings capable of supporting both the weight of the safe and the forces involved in a possible pull-out attempt. Depending on the situation, an additional support or mounting structure may also be required. If the safe is too heavy or the wall is not strong enough, installation on a plinth is often the better solution.

The Salvus FerraraSalvus Ravenna and Salvus Bologna are all burglary-resistant safes, certified according to EN 1143-1 Grade 1. The difference lies in the fire protection.

The Ferrara is not fire resistant. The Ravenna offers 30 minutes of certified fire protection for paper (LFS 30P), the Bologna a full hour (LFS 60P). That extended protection requires a heavier build: the Bologna has a multi-walled structure filled with a special fire-resistant composite. The Ferrara and Ravenna have thinner walls and therefore offer more interior volume at comparable external dimensions.
