Chubbsafes DUOFORCE T2

Chubbsafes DuoForce T2 – Burglary- and fire-resistant safe Grades 4, 5 and 6 (EN 1143-1:2019 T2)

The Chubbsafes DuoForce T2 is a heavy burglary- and fire-resistant safe — as its name suggests: dual certified protection in a single safe. It is certified by ECB·S according to the latest and stricter version of the European standard: EN 1143-1:2019 T2, in Grades 4, 5 and 6. The T2 classification is an addition introduced in the version of the standard: the safe is additionally tested with an extended tool list — more powerful and more refined versions of common burglary tools. The DuoForce T2 thus meets insurers' requirements for the highest value categories, and belongs in banking, jewellery, high-end retail and anywhere substantial values are stored.

As a fire-resistant safe, the DuoForce T2 is tested separately to NT Fire 017 – 60 Paper: in a furnace of almost 1000 °C, the internal temperature remains below the charring point of paper for 60 minutes. Documents and securities therefore remain protected even in a severe fire.

The door is locked on all four sides with thick, square steel bolts — including on the hinge side. Even if the hinges are attacked, the door remains mechanically anchored in the body on every side.

As standard, the DuoForce T2 is fitted with two locks: a double-bitted key lock and a mechanical combination lock. A wide range of EN 1300 certified locks is also available, including electronic code locks (class B or C) with time delay, time windows, multiple user codes and silent duress alarm, as well as time locks for strict opening procedures. Optionally, Planar Protection (an alarm wiring matrix integrated in the safe body, connectable to your existing alarm system) and Core Drill protection against diamond drilling are available — both without loss of fire resistance.

The range comprises seven sizes from 65 to 1090 litres (Grade 6 from 95 litres), with adjustable shelves and optional heavy-duty shelves. If you also require protection against explosives, see the Chubbsafes TriForce T2 Safe – Grade IV to VI EX, T2 certified with 60 min fire rating.

Frequently asked questions

The stated fire resistance of a safe (for example 30, 60, or 120 minutes) refers to the duration of the test phase in a controlled fire laboratory test. In practice, the contents often remain protected for much longer, as some fire-resistant safes go through a cool-down period after the fire is extinguished. During this phase, the internal temperature may continue to rise, but well-designed safes keep it below the critical level at which documents or data media would be damaged.

Not all testing standards include this cool-down phase — it depends on the fire-resistance standard and the specific test method used.

Learn more about the different fire-resistance standards and testing methods for safes on this page.

The Chubbsafes DuoForce T2 and the Chubbsafes TriForce T2 are constructively related: both are certified by ECB·S to EN 1143-1:2019 T2 in Grades 4, 5 and 6, and both offer 60 minutes of fire protection for paper (NT Fire 017 – 60 Paper). Their names reveal the difference: the DuoForce protects against two risks — burglary and fire — while the TriForce adds a third: explosives.

The TriForce T2 is additionally tested and certified to the EX option of EN 1143-1: a charge of solid explosive is detonated inside the safe, and the door must remain locked. Its specifically reinforced boltwork makes that possible.

The choice is therefore simple: for most professional applications with high values, the DuoForce T2 suffices. If the risk profile is at the very highest level — banking, cash handling, critical infrastructure — or if your insurer requires explosive resistance, the TriForce T2 is the safe of choice.

Meta title (59): Difference Between the Chubbsafes DuoForce T2 and TriForce T2 → (61; strakker: "Chubbsafes DuoForce T2 vs TriForce T2 – The Difference", 53)
Meta description (147): Both are Grade 4–6 safes to EN 1143-1:2019 T2 with 60 min fire protection — but only the TriForce also resists explosives (EX). Find out which you need.

The T2 designation refers to an extended tool list (Tool List 2), added in the 2019 version of the European standard EN 1143-1. During certification, safes are tested with a standardised set of burglary tools; the T2 list includes more powerful and more refined versions of these, reflecting the equipment available to burglars today.

T2 is an optional addition to the grade, just like EX (explosives) or CD (core drilling). A safe marked Grade IV T2 on its certification plate therefore offers the same certified grade, additionally tested against heavier tools. Examples in our range include the Chubbsafes DuoForce T2 and TriForce T2, certified in Grades 4 to 6 T2. Read more on our page burglary resistance classes and test methods.

The CD designation stands for Core Drilling and is an optional addition to the grade under EN 1143-1, just like EX or T2. A core drill is a powerful drilling machine fitted with a diamond-tipped bit, capable of penetrating even reinforced concrete. In the CD test, the product is attacked at length with this equipment: a safe with the CD option must delay the attack as long as possible, while a strongroom or strongroom door with the CD option must be able to stop it altogether. Products that pass this test carry the CD marking after their grade on the certification plate, for example Grade IX CD.

In our range, the Chubbsafes TriForce T2 can optionally be fitted with Core Drill protection, and the Wertheim vault rooms and vault doors are certified with the CD designation up to the highest grades. To see why this option is more than theory, read our article on core drill protection for safes and vault doors.

Yes, a safe can be equipped with an electrical outlet, cable entry or internal lighting. This is particularly useful for watch winders, LED lighting and charging electronic devices.

The available options depend on the model and intended use. The installation is carried out without compromising the operation or security of the safe.
