ATB W – Certified wall safe Grade 1 (EN 1143-1, ECB·S)

The ATB W is a Grade 1 wall safe, tested and certified by ECB·S according to the European standard EN 1143-1. The safe is designed to be built into a wall or — better still — embedded in concrete, so that the wall itself becomes part of the protection.

The door of the ATB W has a total thickness of 85 mm, built up from multi-layered steel plates with a front panel and frame in 12 mm steel. The door features four-sided locking with moving steel bolts on all four sides, including the hinge side. The hinges are internal and allow a door opening of slightly more than 90°. The lock and boltwork are protected by additional armour plating and a passive blocking system.

The handle is fully recessed into the door and sits flush with the surface. Depending on the lock type, certain code locks can also be fully integrated, allowing the safe to be built in without anything protruding — discreetly concealed behind a painting, wall panel or cabinet door.

As standard, the ATB W is equipped with a double-bitted key lock. Optionally, versions are available with a mechanical combination lock or an electronic code lock, with emergency key or backlit keypad if desired.

The ATB W is available in five models from 12 to 85 litres, with removable, height-adjustable shelves — one or two depending on the model. From the same family, the ATB BT floor safe, also Grade 1, is for those who prefer building into the floor rather than the wall.

Frequently asked questions

Yes — and the reason lies in the construction itself. A built-in safe, wall safe or floor safe has only an armoured door; the walls are made of sheet steel of 2 to 3 mm and offer little resistance to burglary on their own. The surrounding concrete is therefore not optional but essential: it becomes part of the protection and makes extraction or removal considerably more difficult. Most of our wall safes feature drill protection around the bolts — including at the top and bottom where the bolts emerge. Would you prefer to install a safe without any building or masonry work? Then opt for a freestanding furniture safe that can be anchored to the floor or wall without embedding.

The minimum wall thickness is the depth of the safe itself plus at least 10 cm of concrete at the rear, plus any finishing at the back. For most wall safes, this means you need a fairly thick wall. If your wall is not thick enough, a freestanding safe anchored to the wall or floor is often the better solution. See our home safe page or explore our range of wall safes and floor safes.
