Frequently asked questions

There is no such thing as a completely burglar-proof safe: every safe can be opened — it is a matter of time and tools. What a certified safe does offer is a delay — and that delay is precisely what discourages or defeats a burglary attempt.

The level of resistance is expressed as a resistance grade according to EN 1143-1: the higher the grade, the longer and more difficult it is to open the safe. Anchoring plays an equally important role: a safe that is not correctly anchored can simply be taken away. Explore our range of certified burglary-resistant safes.

The insurable value of a safe is always an indicative guideline. It is calculated under standard conditions, for example storage in an unmonitored and unsecured building.

In practice, insurers can significantly increase coverage when additional security measures are in place, such as an alarm system, CCTV or a high-security building. This is especially relevant for the storage of precious metals, jewellery or diamonds.

That is why it is important to discuss your specific situation directly with your insurer. Together, we can determine which safe and which measures are required to ensure your valuables are fully covered.

No, not automatically — the two certifications are independent of each other. A [fire-resistant cabinet keeps the internal temperature under control during a fire, but offers no certified resistance against burglary. A fire-resistant safe from our range, on the other hand, is doubly certified: both fire-resistant and burglar-resistant according to EN 1143-1. If you want protection against both fire and theft, choose a model with both certifications — and ask for this explicitly when purchasing.

The Fichet-Bauche Inviktus came first: Fichet-Bauche's iconic flagship, certified against burglary, fire and explosion. At the request of the banking sector, the Fichet-Bauche Atrius was developed from it.

The Atrius is fully tested and certified against burglary according to EN 1143-1 (Grade 4 or 5), but is not fire or explosion resistant. For applications where that additional protection is not required — such as many banking and professional environments — the Atrius offers the same certified burglary resistance at a more attractive price.

In short: choose the Inviktus for complete protection against burglary, fire and explosion; choose the Atrius when certified burglary resistance suffices.
