Frequently asked questions

There is no such thing as a completely burglar-proof safe: every safe can be opened — it is a matter of time and tools. What a certified safe does offer is a delay — and that delay is precisely what discourages or defeats a burglary attempt.

The level of resistance is expressed as a resistance grade according to EN 1143-1: the higher the grade, the longer and more difficult it is to open the safe. Anchoring plays an equally important role: a safe that is not correctly anchored can simply be taken away. Explore our range of certified burglary-resistant safes.

Chubbsafes is known for its strict quality control and continuous innovation.

The range extends from home safes such as Omega and Consul, through fire-resistant models like DPC and Duoguard, to high-security solutions such as Duoforce and Triforce, certified up to Grade VI. The portfolio also includes vault doors and complete strong rooms for maximum protection. All series are internationally certified (ECB.S, A2P) and tested according to the strictest European standards.

A safe with a code lock is also known as a digital safe or combination safe. Locking is done by an electronic code lock or a mechanical combination lock. Key-operated safes are also available, as are combinations of both. The right choice depends on your daily use and the security grade of your safe.

From grade 4 onwards, two safe locks are mandatory — a combination of key lock and code lock, or two code locks. For lighter safes, a second lock can be added as an option.

  • Electronic locks: user-friendly, the code is easy to set and change, often with multiple codes, time functions, audit trail and alarm connection.
  • Mechanical locks: the classic mechanical dial lock — extremely reliable and durable, less prone to faults, but slower to operate and more complex when changing the code.
  • Key locks: suitable as an additional lock, but rarely recommended as the only lock.
