Fichet-Bauche Celsia – Fire-resistant document safe (EN 1047-1, S 60 P / S 120 P)

The Fichet-Bauche Celsia is a high-performance fire-resistant document safe, designed to protect paper documents and other sensitive items from the devastating effects of fire. Certified according to the strict EN 1047-1 standard, this fire-resistant safe offers up to 2 hours of fire protection at temperatures up to 1090 °C: the 200 model provides 60 minutes of protection (S 60 P), the 400 and 800 models provide 120 minutes (S 120 P). This makes it the ideal solution for securely storing documents in high-risk environments.

Available in three sizes: 200, 400 and 800 litres, the Celsia provides ample storage capacity for a large volume of documents. Its Mirium fire-resistant composite material, developed by Fichet-Bauche, ensures optimal thermal insulation, maintaining a stable temperature and humidity inside even under extreme fire conditions.

In addition to its exceptional fire protection capabilities, the Celsia has undergone a drop test from a height of 9.15 metres, ensuring the integrity of the safe and its contents, even if the safe falls through a floor due to a fire. The cooling period after a fire ensures that the internal temperature remains below 170 °C for paper.

The safe is equipped with A2P certified locks, including the M3B key lock and the Nectra electronic combination lock, offering optimal security and ease of use. Additionally, it provides several internal configurations, including adjustable shelves and sliding drawers, as well as an optional fire-resistant compartment for sensitive media (S 120 DIS certification).

Frequently asked questions

A safe with a code lock is also known as a digital safe or combination safe. Locking is done by an electronic code lock or a mechanical combination lock. Key-operated safes are also available, as are combinations of both. The right choice depends on your daily use and the security grade of your safe.

From grade 4 onwards, two safe locks are mandatory — a combination of key lock and code lock, or two code locks. For lighter safes, a second lock can be added as an option.

  • Electronic locks: user-friendly, the code is easy to set and change, often with multiple codes, time functions, audit trail and alarm connection.
  • Mechanical locks: the classic mechanical dial lock — extremely reliable and durable, less prone to faults, but slower to operate and more complex when changing the code.
  • Key locks: suitable as an additional lock, but rarely recommended as the only lock.

The stated fire resistance of a safe (for example 30, 60, or 120 minutes) refers to the duration of the test phase in a controlled fire laboratory test. In practice, the contents often remain protected for much longer, as some fire-resistant safes go through a cool-down period after the fire is extinguished. During this phase, the internal temperature may continue to rise, but well-designed safes keep it below the critical level at which documents or data media would be damaged.

Not all testing standards include this cool-down phase — it depends on the fire-resistance standard and the specific test method used.
