Can a safe bag replace a battery cabinet?

No, a safe bag does not replace a battery cabinet. A safe bag is a bag made of heat-resistant material in which a battery is stored or charged, to contain flames temporarily. Many of these bags are designed for LiPo batteries used in model making and drones, while e-bike and power tool batteries usually have different cells (NMC) and more energy. Often, the amount of energy (Wh) the bag was tested for is not stated. Smoke and gases, which are toxic and flammable, also escape from a closed bag.

A battery cabinet that meets VDMA 24994 is tested against a battery fire inside and a fire from outside, and the fire must not spread to the batteries on the other shelves. For several batteries at work, or for charging, a cabinet is therefore the better choice. See our safety cabinets for batteries.
