EN 1143-1 Grade 2 is a European certification for the burglary resistance of safes for applications with a low to medium-high risk profile. A certified Grade 2 safe provides resistance against an intruder with mechanical and electrical tools and some experience. Grade 2 is also particularly interesting for those who want to combine high fire protection with reliable burglary resistance — unlike higher grades, Grade 2 allows compliance with the most stringent fire standards, such as EN 1047-1 with 120 minutes of protection for data carriers.
Burglary resistance is expressed in Resistance Units (RU): Grade 2 requires 70 RU for partial access and 100 RU for full access.
The indicative insurable value is €25,000 in cash or €50,000 in valuables — based on storage in an unattended and unsecured building. Cash and valuables may not be combined.
